from: Setting up a Home Gym
Setting up a home gym might not be as easy as one can think unless you just want to place a mat on your floor and set up the exercise equipments like those of the public gym. But since you have the comfort of your home, setting up a home gym can be a simple set up or might be as glamorous with sophisticated equipments.
Usually, beginners or light users who want to improve general heath, flexibility, manage weight and increase muscle tone have the following equipments to complete their training:
- Aerobic machine (step, elliptical, treadmill, bike) for exercising all muscles simultaneously.
- Dumbbells-lighter for overhead lifts and side lift and Heavier for lunges and squats
- Adjustable bench
- Fitness ball or exercise ball. A primary benefit of exercising with an exercise ball as opposed to exercising directly on a hard flat surface is that the body responds to the instability of the ball to remain balanced, engaging many more muscles to do so.[Those muscles become stronger over time to keep balance.
- Exercise mat. So you can do stretching and other floor exercises; and
- Enough space for stretches
With more sophisticated gym exercise equipments, some beginners resort to multi-gyms or multi station gyms. This is because it allows you to take rounds of different exercise in just a single equipment.
Intermediate trainers are usually moving into more serious strength building, focusing on muscle development. The usual set up comprises:
- A full set of Dumbbells
- Barbells and plates
- Strong exercise bench with a barbell rack
More advanced multi-gym-or cheaper option used along with free weights above Most likely price range: $1500-$2500
Advanced trainers are taking on the serious body building. This is often combined with public gym sessions as well
Large and complex multi-gym
Advanced free weights and bench Usually $3000 upwards.
Consider the space you have carefully. Some machines are designed for corners, and some have large extension ranges. Don’t buy sight unseen.
Take the time to get all possible measurements, including any possible attachments. This is to make sure that you have enough space for it. If you are having more than one person wanting to exercise at the same time, a multi-station will suit the need since more than one person can work out at once.
Watch how you transport equipment like dumbbells, bar plates, and free weights. They are heavy and will do damage and injury to others.
With this information on hand, you can now get started and set up fully your home gym.
