from: Multi-Station Home Gyms
The usual home gyms compose of weighs and other exercise equipments to build strength and muscle. However, with the growing sophistication of home gyms, the basic home gym has developed into Multi Station Home Gyms.
But what are Multi-Station Home Gyms?
Multi station home gyms are freestanding training units using weights to offer resistance to a range of body movements. This is usually found in public gyms, athlete-training centres and now from the comfort of your own home gym.
What does multi-station mean?
A round of exercises is usually called a circuit (i.e. circuit training) and each action you perform around the machine is known as a station. Hence, multi-stations means more than one station can be performed on the equipment.
What does a station do?
Each station is designed to act different set of muscles. These stations are also set up with correct procedures in mind, which is very important. Like for example, overdoing the weighs does not let you lose weight build muscles overnight. Just because you can lift it on the first round, does not mean you will on the last one if you’ve worked too hard.
How do they work?
A steel frame is set up with a series of pulleys, weighs and cables. Different exercises can be performed on these with the weights offering resistance to work muscles beyond everyday activity.
Which is best?
Unlike clothes at the mall, which can be free size, no multi station gym fits all people. You have to try it to see if you are comfortable working with it. Test them with lighter weights first to get a feel for set up. If awkward or uncomfortable once adjusted, it probably isn’t the right design for your body.
How many stations will I get?
The more you pay the more variety you get. A basic would have around 10-15 and that can range up to 70 or more. Ease of use is much better to start with.
Having a multi station gym eases training such that it is a one-stop station which you can do multiple exercises without having to transfer from one exercise equipment to another.
